To do well on the SAT Essay, you’ll want to have a good sense of what the test asks of you as well as the reading, analysis, and writing knowledge and skills required to compose a response to the Essay prompt.
A good SAT score will be a powerful weapon in your arsenal when you will be applying to a good college. Therefore, the SAT can seem as an overwhelming and difficult task to do. The main problem for many students is that they do not have a strong and organized plan on how to get a high score for the test and therefore they are trying to do too much or are cramming at the last minute.
For most schools, a good SAT essay score can really set you apart from other applicants, while a bad essay score doesn’t matter as much when balanced with a good SAT total score. Each essay is read and scored by 2 different people, who score your response based on 3 dimensions.
The SAT essay section is optional, but you have the potential to earn 8 extra points. To get to this score, there will be two readers that look over your essay and grade it on a scale of 1 to 4 points. These two scores are added together to give you your final score for this section.
